St. Ingrid of Sweden was born in the early 13th century in Skänninge, Sweden. St. Ingrid did not travel, she stayed in Skänninge, Sweden. St. Ingrid lived under spiritual direction of Father Peter of Dacia, a Dominican priest. She became the first Dominican nun and founded the first Dominican cloister there, called St. Martin's in Skänninge. St. Ingrid died in 1282 in Skänninge, Sweden of natural causes.
Throughout St. Ingrid's life she was known for her sanctity and a devotion to her sprang up almost directly after her death. Many miracles have been reported to had happened at her tomb. St. Ingird's canonization process began in 1405, the Swedish Bishops introduced her cause at the Council of Constance. A trial was held in Sweden in 1416 to 1417 and the results were inconclusive. In 1497, the trial was reintroduced and in 1507 her relics were solemnly translated. A Mass and Office were composed but, formal canonization seems never to have occurred. Her cult came to an end and her convent and relics were destroyed, during the Reformation.
